Scheme to help make businesses accessible

Tuesday 25 August 2020

Liberate has launched a scheme to help businesses make their premises accessible for people with disabilities.

Liberate's Accès scheme aims to help organisations meet their obligations under the law in advance of the 1 September deadline.

The law change stipulates that businesses must make reasonable adjustments to their premises in order to accommodate those with disabilities.

The Accès scheme offers an audit of premises and training for employees on inclusion.

Islanders with disabilities have been invited to contribute their expertise as 'Accessibility Ambassadors' and are assisting with the audits and acting as 'mystery shoppers'.

It's hoped that, in time, the Accès kitemark will become a trusted symbol for islanders with disabilities.
