Silk joins Jersey law firm

Thursday 06 February 2014

The dispute litigation team at Hanson Renouf has been bolstered by the arrival of commercial silk Richard Jones QC.

Advocate Timothy Hanson says it is not only a coup for Hanson Renouf but also for Jersey as Mr Jones is understood to be the first QC to join a local law firm.

“Our firm has come a long way since it opened in 2005 and demonstrates the opportunities that are available in the Island if you are prepared to put the work and effort in. The arrival of Richard Jones QC bolsters our ability to handle the more complex commercial cases but also means that we have a top silk locally to provide face to face legal advice so as to limit disputes occurring in the first place,” he said.

Mr Jones joins Hanson Renouf to build upon the firm’s existing litigation expertise and proceeds of crime work.  He is no stranger to Hanson Renouf as he shares barristers’ chambers in the UK – No 5 Chambers - with Advocate Hanson and Advocate Mark Renouf. All three lawyers will retain rights to practice in England and Wales.

A seminar is being organised for 13 March for directors and employees of trust companies and banks at which Mr Jones Richard will address aspects of risk, both at a corporate and a personal level.
