Top comedian announced as host for next month's TechAwards

Thursday 06 September 2018

A financial writer, technology advocate and acclaimed comedian is to host the inaugural Jersey TechAwards.

Dominic Frisby has been performing what's described as a "high-octane" financial game show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

He said: "I like Jersey. I like tech. I like hosting events. It was a no-brainer. Tech transforms the world. It always has and it always will. In recent years, thanks largely to the internet and all things related, tech has been an empowering liberating force for millions, creating countless opportunities for people.

"Over the next 20 years the opportunities tech will bring to the global population that is currently unbanked will be transform lives for the better. We are in the midst of an era of extraordinary improvement.

"There have been Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions. We are in the middle of a Technological Revolution that is going to become a Financial Revolution."

The Jersey TechAwards on Thursday 18 October are being organised by Digital Jersey, along with BCS Jersey and headline sponsored by Prosperity 24/7. Bailiwick Publishing is the media partner for the event.

Digital Jersey CEO Tony Moretta said: "In a venn diagram of speakers who are finance writers, fintech enthusiasts and stand-up comedians there is only one man, and I am delighted we have secured Dominic for our awards. He’s a brilliantly funny and engaging performer, he knows his subject inside out, and he’s fast becoming a global ambassador for the whole tech sector. My advice to anyone in either the finance or tech sectors – don’t miss out!"

Nominations for the Jersey TechAwards close on Friday 14 September. You can nominate here.
