Walkers acts on funding for $2bn medtech group

Walkers' team has advised a long standing British tech 'unicorn' client on a significant funding round which values it at more than $2 billion.

Led by Partner Mark Crichton, the team advised Babylon Health – the company behind the GP at Hand app and Ask Babylon – on its $550 million fund-raising.

Babylon already offers medical services and advice online in the UK and in Rwanda. With the latest round funding secured, it plans to expand into the US and Asia, and also to expand research and development into diagnosis of chronic conditions.

The team advising on the Jersey law elements of the fund raising included Senior Associate Bella Ward, working alongside UK counsel Taylor Wessing and US counsel Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Mr Crichton commented: "In the past four years that we've been acting as Jersey counsel for Babylon, we've seen them go from strength to strength, and, in acting on the Jersey aspects of this major funding round it has been great to be a small part of this massive British tech success story."
