Young Jersey private client professionals make '35 Under 35' list

Thursday 09 June 2022

Young Jersey professionals in law and financial services have made the list of ‘Top 35 Under 35’ private client practitioners in the Channel Islands.

Carey Olsen senior associate Dean Robson, Bedell Cristin senior associate Sonia Shah, and JTC managers Paul Russell, Joshua Allaway and Will Wakeham, and assistant manager Emily Bain feature this year.

For Highvern, senior manager Ellen Hibbs and trust manager Emma Furzer have been included.

A member of the Carey Olsen’s dispute resolution and litigation group in Jersey, Mr Robson’s practice covers a range of commercial and civil litigation with a focus on trusts, including both disputes and non-contentious applications by trustees.

It is the third year in a row that he had made the list.

Ms Shah, who joined Bedell Cristin in 2016, has extensive experience with commercial and contentious trust litigation work, regularly assisting with complex applications and trial work before the Royal Court and Court of Appeal in Jersey.

The fourth consecutive year she has appeared on the list, Ms Shah works across numerous cases and advises leading onshore law firms, fiduciaries and high net worth individuals on trust, commercial, insolvency and regulatory matters on a wide range of international disputes.

Commenting on the JTC quartet, the company’s Group Head of Private Client Services, Iain Johns, said: “It is really pleasing to see four members of our fantastic team included in this year’s ePrivateClient Top 35 Under 35 list, spanning both our Jersey and Guernsey offices.

“At JTC, we are dedicated to supporting and encouraging young talent to ensure that they reach their full potential and deliver outstanding client service.

“Congratulations to Paul, Joshua, Will and Emily for this well-deserved recognition.”

Ms Furzer at Highvern has featured on the list since its inception in the Channel Islands five years ago. Ms Hibbs was on the UK list for 2021 and was also singled out at the Powerwomen Awards by Citywealth for her ambition and work ethic.

The winners of the Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35 will automatically be put forward for consideration for the UK and Crown Dependencies listing, which is due to be announced in September.
