Autism Jersey

Overview
Founded in 2005 by a group of parents, Autism Jersey is now the island's leading organisation dedicated to the support and assistance of people with autism. The charity raises awareness of autism, supports people to obtain an accurate and prompt diagnosis and strives to ensure they receive a personalised package of care so that they achieve their full potential and play an active and inclusive role within the community.

Autism Jersey

Description

It is estimated that over 1,000 people in Jersey are on the autism spectrum. Autism is a very complicated condition; it effects how a person communicates, interacts and understands the world around them. Given the right  encouragement and support, many individuals with autism can show remarkable talent and live a normal life in the community. Without it, people often struggle to cope with the simplest of daily tasks and this can put incredible strain on both them and their families.

Services provided by Autism Jersey include training for families, friends, professionals and employers; social events, a Befriending Scheme, holiday play scheme and the LINX project for siblings and services aimed at families with children with autism. There is also an adult social club, life and social skills training and employment links for adults with autism.

In 2015 Autism Jersey will celebrate their 10th anniversary, championing full and inclusive lives for Islanders on the autism spectrum, their families and carers. Without your support this simply would not be possible.
