Today, on Giving Tuesday, dubbed ‘the most generous day of the year’, Acorn Enterprises are launching their Advent Calendar.

They are asking people to pick a number between 1 and 24, which relate to items on their Amazon Wish List. These will directly help people who have a disability or long-term health condition who attend Acorn’s training and development projects.

Therapeutic sessions include jewellery, textiles, wooden gifts and Acorn-branded products, which are sold to create an additional income.

By learning new skills and making new friends, this helps people with their confidence and self-esteem and gives them something to look forward to in their week.

But their projects always need extra tools and materials, such as paint, paint brushes, pliers and so on.

Fundraising & Relationships Manager Caroline Spencer said: ‘We ran our first Advent Calendar last year and it was really successful so we are repeating it this year.

‘All you have to do is pick a number between 1 and 24 and commit to buying the item that goes with the number. The prices range from £3.73 for sandpaper to £38.05 for cotton twill ribbon. Most items are less than £20.

‘This will help our projects continue running into 2022 and will mean we can continue with our upcycling and textiles projects, which in turn generates an income.

‘We are asking people to help us bring some joy to our elves who work year-round to upcycle and create magical items for our loyal customers.’

To take part, email caroline.spencer@jet.co.je with a number between 1 and 24.
