TWO Channel Island’s Captive insurance experts will be speaking at this year’s Captive Live UK conference in London. Simon Phillips, head of Captive insurance and Colleen McHugh, Captive investment adviser, from Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, will be speaking at the event on 24 and 25 February at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Captive Live is the UK's leading Captive insurance event featuring high-level content including panel debates and case studies. Now in its 5th year the event is firmly established as a must-attend event for the industry's key Captive insurance professionals.

The 2014 conference and exhibition will focus on how Captive managers can transform their Captive management techniques to get better value and topical conference content addressing the current issues affecting the Captive insurance industry.

Mr Phillips, who heads the Barclays Captive Insurance team and is based in Jersey, will be part of a panel discussing collateral options for Captives. Increasingly, Captives are seeking a more efficient way in which to secure their fronting insurance obligations; both from a cost and flexibility perspective.

Ms McHugh, who is based at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management in Guernsey, will form part of a three person panel discussing the current economic environment, Captives investment needs and debating fixed income vs. equities.

“The Captive Live UK conference is a valuable opportunity to learn about the key issues affecting the Captive insurance industry and to gain industry insights from other Captive insurance professionals,” said Mr Phillips.

“It’s also a great opportunity to promote the islands’ Captives offerings to an international audience of Captives professionals.”
