Can’t work from home, would you quit your job?

The drive to get people back into offices is clashing with workers who’ve embraced remote work as the new normal, and according to new studies employees are quitting their jobs as they don’t want to give up working from home.

Although firms are looking at offering greater flexibility for their employees, offering a spilt in working from home and in the office, could it be killing company culture?

Employees who have embraced working from home and see it as the new normal say that if the covid situation has proven that you can work from anywhere, avoiding lengthy commutes and juggling busy family life, why can’t it continue? However, not all employees are so sure, preferring the company and environment of office-based work. This isn’t an option for all, there are some workers who don’t have a choice, such as hospitality staff, carers, front line medical staff etc.

It seems that some managers are eager to regain their workforce back into the office, if not for the whole time at least for some, but there are some employees who’d prefer something 100% remote. It’s still early to say how the post-pandemic work environment will look in the future. Many employers are still being lenient with policies as the virus lingers and vaccinations continue to roll out.

But as workers return to working in the office, some employees will want the mix and would even go as far as quitting if their employers aren’t flexible about remote work. We are working with many Firms that have flexible working policies where they are able to offer the spilt balance, which is very favourable with employees, and this is likely to be the case well into the future.
