The team at the JSPCA Animals' Shelter is so excited to announce that they will soon have their very own charity fundraising shop!
The store is due to open during the autumn, but at present the charity cannot take any donations due to lack of storage.
“We can’t say just yet where we will be opening, but it’s an out of town location and on a good bus route!” said Michelle Parker, PR, Media and Fundraising Manager for the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter. “We are also currently recruiting for a very special person to join our team as the Charity Shop Manager.”
The shop will be accepting clean, good-quality clothes, shoes, accessories, children's games and toys, items for the home, books, ornaments, small pieces of furniture...(unfortunately no electricals or large pieces of furniture).
Joanne Doherty, Store Manager at Paperchase said, "As soon as I heard the JSPCA were opening a charity shop I sent an email offering my services in helping set this up. I have been in retail management over 20 years and have project managed new store openings, so I felt my experience would come in useful.”
The help of Paperchase has also been invaluable when it comes to accepting donations. “I was informed that there was a lack of space to store donations, which impacted when they could start accepting donations, so I asked Paperchase if we could use our spare stockroom.” Ms Doherty continued. “Being the most amazing, kindest company I have ever worked for, they instantly said yes. All my team are eager to be involved as well. We feel very proud to be able to assist such a wonderful organisation as the JSPCA."
This is a new initiative for the JSPCA that will see an additional income stream for the Animals' Shelter which will help us to carry on providing our services to the Island.
“To date we have run a number of successful Yard Sales at the Shelter and our supporters often asked us “when are you going to open a charity shop!” Well, we listened and here we are on the cusp of this exciting new adventure which will provide additional income to support our charitable aims.” said Debra D’Orleans, Chief Executive of the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter.
