St Helier prepares to welcome a new business as Michelin starred chef Shaun Rankin opens his luxury delicatessen ‘Don Street Deli’.
The business, located next door to Shaun’s highly acclaimed Ormer restaurant, will open its doors before Christmas. The deli will deliver fresh, quality produce sourced from the most reputable suppliers whilst also providing delicious alternatives for the busy St Helier breakfast and lunch trade.
The deli will provide products to the Jersey market that are not available anywhere else on the Island. The delicatessen will feature speciality meats, hand made condiments and exceptional cheeses that have been personally sourced by Shaun Rankin from small holders and artisan producers around Europe. The deli will run in synergy with Ormer Restaurant, with items from the deli available to enjoy from Ormer’s heated al fresco area and Ormer’s specialist wines, sourced direct from private vineyards, available to deli customers.
A wood fired oven will take centre stage in the deli cooking quality hand made breads such as Olive Ciabatta and Rosemary Focaccia. Customers can choose to have their artisan sandwiches perfectly warmed in the oven for carry out and dine in. A healthy selection of salads will also be available alongside a unique range of juices and drinks including the luxury range Mr Sherick’s Shakes.
The business will provide a new standard of catering to the corporate market with a boardroom service of fresh sandwiches, pastries and hot and cold offerings produced under the SR quality stamp. Foodies will also enjoy the ‘Supper’ service whereby you can order home made dishes, such as ‘Shaun Rankin’s Fish Pie with Roasted Leeks & Montgomery Cheddar Cheese Creamed Potato’, to take home.
Don Street Deli will showcase a number of elite producers from home and further afield including pastry chef Rebeccah May and rare breed pork producer John Hackett. Free tasting of their delicacies will be a treat for all shoppers and diners on a visit to the deli.
Shaun Rankin, SR Holdings, says:
‘Don Street Deli is all about gourmet ingredients that can be hard to find for the general consumer. We will be stocking an array of artisan shopping items from the best extra virgin olive oils, to luxurious pressed terrines, and delicious Italian sweet treats. I have also brought on board a number of quality local suppliers to provide fresh produce. It is important to me that I am able to invest further in the Island and build up a brand here that I am very proud of; I hope you all love the deli as much as I do.’
