The general manager and executive head chef of Grand Jersey, who are preparing for a gruelling four-day charity challenge, have so far raised £2,407 for Headway Jersey.
Since the announcement of the Champagne Region to Champagne Lounge challenge earlier this year, Grand Jersey and its customers have been organising and delivering a variety of fun events, raising funds for charity.
Grand Jersey would like to thank all of the event sponsors for their on-going support, including, Waitrose, Falles Motor Group, Big Maggy’s, Blue Islands, The Co-operative, Condor Ferries, Perrier Jouet and Jersey Rowing Club.
Although Mr Elliott and Mr Allen are thrilled with the total so far, they’re appealing to islanders to help them raise more before they depart on their 317-mile cycling and rowing challenge next month.
‘The support we have received from our sponsors and the public so far has been fantastic. The team has worked tirelessly in training, rowing and cycling before and after work to improve our fitness and technique. Headway Jersey is a fantastic local organisation and we are hoping tor raise as much money as possible to make all the hard work worth while,’ said Grand Jersey managing director Eamonn Elliott.
Starting in Epernay in North East France (the Champagne region), the team, which comprises of key members of staff from Grand Jersey, Headway and Jersey Coast Guard, will cycle 317 miles in three days to Carteret in Normandy, before rowing the 22-mile stretch of the Channel back to Jersey.
At the end of the row, which will take up to three hours, the team will be welcomed back to the Champagne Lounge at Grand Jersey for a celebratory four-course dinner and gala ball.
All proceeds from the evening will go towards the final fundraising total.
Grand Jersey has hosted a number of fundraising events so far in 2014 to help promote the challenge and boost sponsorships, including a Lobster by the Sea evening and Champagne Canapés and Live Music on the Terrace event.
