Customers catching up over a coffee and a slice at Café@theTunnels last month helped raise over £170 for islanders affected by cancer.
The popular café at island attraction Jersey War Tunnels joined the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan on Friday 30th September, donating the proceeds from each cuppa directly to Macmillan Jersey. Twenty percent of the cost of a slice of cake or any other goodies bought was also donated to the charity.
Macmillan Jersey offers free emotional support, practical information and group support to people in Jersey with any type of cancer and at any stage, along with their families and friends.
Jersey War Tunnels Chief Operating Officer Joe Carnegie said, “We were delighted to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee morning and are thankful to all our customers who came along to support this great cause and helped raise £177.66 for Macmillan Jersey.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee morning started in 1991 and has become the largest and longest-standing fundraising event of its kind in the UK. Since it started, Coffee Morning has raised over £290 million for Macmillan.
