Jersey Water has presented the Stroke Association Jersey £18,850 following a year of fundraising, during which employees collected the most they have ever raised for their chosen charity.

At the beginning of 2018, the Stroke Association Jersey was chosen by Jersey Water’s employees as their charity of choice. Over the course of the year, staff raised money in a variety of ways, including setting up the Jersey Water ‘Hydration Station’ at the Weekender Festival. During the event, employees gave out water and refillable water bottles in return for a donation to the Stroke Association Jersey; over 2,000 reusable bottles were handed out along with 4,000 litres of water to keep the crowds hydrated over the hot weekend.

Other fundraising activities ranged from teams putting on an Open Day at Handois Water Treatment Works, lawnmower racing, a quiz night, World Cup sweepstake and various cake and raffle sales.

Helier Smith, Chief Executive, Jersey Water said, “We are delighted to have been able to support the Stroke Association Jersey this year. The Jersey Water team have thoroughly enjoyed organising and taking part in the various events, significantly exceeding our previous fundraising which is an outstanding achievement. It has been fantastic working with the charity and getting to know the team, their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved with our activities has helped us to raise awareness of the risk of a stroke. Stroke Association Jersey also held two blood pressure check days at our offices, which most staff took advantage of.”
