Today, LGT Vestra Jersey launches a 12 month photography competition - Vestra Vistas. Aiming to “paint a picture” of Jersey, LGT Vestra Jersey is asking local residents to submit photographs that have been taken from around the island in celebration of its unique beauty and culture.
The competition is in support of local Jersey charity, Les Amis, whose mission is to support and empower people with learning disabilities. The partnership is centred around both LGT Vestra Jersey and Les Amis' joint wish to reach a greater understanding of people. Through the Vestra Vistas photography competition, the companies hope to dispel any preconceived notions around what it means to have a learning disability.
Monthly winners will have their winning photograph showcased at the Vestra Vistas closing exhibition in 2019. This exhibition will take place at a local Jersey gallery where photographs submitted by entrants over the twelve months will be on display.
'Vestra Vistas' translates to 'your views'; representing LGT Vestra Jersey's belief that understanding clients’ non-financial values, thoughts and concerns are equally as important as the financial and technical facts.
Dan McAlister, CEO LGT Vestra Jersey said: "Our collective experiences volunteering for Les Amis earlier this year has allowed me and the team to see first-hand the invaluable work they do in supporting not only those with learning difficulties, but also their families and the wider community."
"The Vestra Vistas photography competition is about gaining a deeper understanding of people by seeing the world through their eyes. This perspective and insight should apply in all walks of life, from Les Amis' standpoint right through to the approach we take with our clients. Understanding our clients' non-financial drivers helps us to better manage their wealth. Vestra Vistas is also about celebrating the beautiful island that we live on, sharing our photos so that we paint a picture of Jersey through the eyes of those who know it best."
Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “We are extremely grateful to LGT Vestra Jersey for selecting us as thebeneficiary of their Vestra Vistas competition. Thanks to the services offered by Les Amis, as the island’s largest charitableorganisation, our residents view life with a very positive and rosy outlook. But there is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes in ensuring that we can maintain this high level of care and cater to the island’s growing population. This competition is awonderful opportunity to better understand the needs of those with intellectual disabilities and I’m sure many of our residents will be delighted to get involved.”
