STEP’s Employer Partnership Team will be hosting a forum on mental health in the workplace next month, in partnership with STEP Jersey.

Entitled Mental Health in the Workplace: Breaking the Silence, the event takes place at the Pomme D’Or Hotel, Jersey, on 25 October, from 8:00-11:30.

While mental health problems are common, with one in four of us affected in any one year, 90 per cent of those affected will experience stigma and discrimination as a result.

In addition to the personal suffering of those involved, turning a blind eye to mental health is bad for business and the wider economy, with a cost to UK employers of GBP 35 billion per year.

By supporting and developing workplace mental wellbeing, organisations can build happier, better engaged, and more productive workplaces.

The day will feature talks from four speakers on the latest thinking on mental health, with time for discussion. Our speakers are:

  • Huw Thomas of Carey Olsen
  • Gail McCourt, Partner, RBC Wealth Management
  • Kerry James, Head of Learning & Development, Burges Salmon
  • Kelly Leslie, Human Resources Manager, Farrer & Co LLP.

Three of our speakers addressed an earlier event in London, and have given interviews, which are linked from the event webpage:
