The International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 2014 edition published last week has promoted Ogier to a top tier firm for its Investment Fund and Corporate and Finance practices in Guernsey. This follows on from The Legal 500 UK, which also promoted Ogier to the top tier for its Guernsey Commercial and Banking practice in its most recent edition.
The IFLR reported that "in the eyes of its clients, Ogier had closed the gap on contemporary firms across the financial and corporate space and was comparable in size to the largest offering in the Channel Islands". Client feedback also described Ogier as being "hugely knowledgeable and very responsive, they always have very well thought through points."
Ogier was commended for its work including the US$1.2 billion HarbourVest acquisition, the US$5.5 billion Coller International Partners VI fund launch, the £1 billion UK government's mortgate indemnity scheme and the £1 billion financial restructuring of the Biffa Group.
William Simpson, managing partner, commented "We have been operating at the highest level in Guernsey now for a few years. It is good to see that two of the leading industry commentators have recognised that we are a very progressive firm and put us in the top tier for three categories of work. Last year we completed a number of high value mandates across our corporate, investment fund and finance teams who are well deserving of this top tier status."
The IFLR is an annual guide to the world's leading financial and corporate law firms. It aims to provide clients of law firms throughout the world with easy-to-use rankings and profiles of the leading firms in each country organised by practice area, accompanied by analysis of the market trends and business environment. They base the rankings and analysis on law firm submissions, client interviews and their own extensive independent research.
