In light of the Government’s announcement that the National Association for Special Educational Needs (nasen) are conducting an independent evaluation of inclusion in education and early years in the island over the coming weeks, the Parent Carer Forum is urging parents and carers to complete the Government survey to share their views on a number of key issues affecting the inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in education.

The review will consider the needs and provision for all children and young people, aged 0-25, in Government and non-Government provided educational and early years settings.

Jonathan Langan, Chair of the Parent Carer Forum said, "We are extremely encouraged by the Government's initiative to carry out an independent evaluation of inclusion in education and early years, and would strongly encourage all our members and the impacted wider community, to ensure they have their say on how the current existing arrangements are working for them. The view point of children, young people, carers and parents are critical to ensure we get the best possible outcome for our children and young people"

Parents wishing for their voice to be heard please complete the survey by visiting the government website

Where four different questionnaires, one for children, one for parents, one for professionals and one for volunteers are available. The surveys are open for only a few more days until Monday 14th June. In addition, nasen is here to conduct personal interviews with parents.
