Schoolgirls from across the island are being invited to Police Headquarters on Thursday as part of International Women’s Day (IWD).
The 60 youngsters from a variety of schools will have the chance to ask questions of a panel of women from across the Police staff before having a tour of the building.
International Women's Day (IWD) celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Run annually on March 8, the day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
IWD aims to showcase commitment to women's equality, launch new initiatives and action, celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness, highlight gender parity gains and more.
To mark the day the States of Jersey Police will have a panel of officers and staff to answer any questions the girls have. These include Detective Chief Inspector Alison Fossey, head of CSI Vicky Coupland, PC Persephone Bell and Communications Manager Hannah Hearne.
DCI Fossey, the highest ranked female police officer, said: “International Women’s Day is a great chance to talk to young women about what they can achieve and answer their questions about how they could do that.
“We want to encourage them to strive to be the leaders of the future, if that’s what they want to do. Gender should never hold them back.”
