Jersey Post and Guernsey Post have joined forces to support this year’s junior inter-island cricket matches. The Under 11’s and Under 13’s matches which will take place at FB Fields on Saturday 17 June and the Under 15’s match, will take place at Port Soif in Guernsey on 24 June.
Tim Brown, Chief Executive at Jersey Post said, “Whilst we have already pledged out support to Jersey cricket, we wanted to do something specifically for the juniors so that their talent can be developed at island level. We’re very pleased that we have teamed up with Guernsey Post, we both believe that supporting young talent is essential for the future of the sport in both islands.”
The junior inter-insulars have been part of the annual inter-island game for many years, and give local youngsters in both islands the chance to train within the cricket development system and work towards gaining a place in the team for their age group.
Boley Smiley, Chief Executive at Guernsey Post stated, “We are delighted to be able to work with the local cricket community for these matches. We see ourselves very much as part of island life in Guernsey and are very pleased to be able to support the cricket community at grassroots level.”
The matches are set to be closely fought contests and spectators are welcome to attend. Each match will start at 11:00 and should finish around 17:00. The trophies will be presented at the respective pavilions shortly after the matches finish.
The remaining inter-island cricket match is the senior event which takes place on 26 August in Guernsey.
