Round-island walkers to be sure of their times

Local telecoms company Sure will once again be supplying mobile connectivity for the State Street Island Walk in June.

Walkers will be able to access accurate time records thanks to Sure supplying mobile WiFi units at each of the 12 checkpoints around the island.

Technology from Race Nation will give every walker an identity card that they can use to check in at each checkpoint and the times will then be automatically recorded.

The State Street Island Walk, which is in its 28^th year, is one of the island’s great sporting challenges and has raised more than two million pounds for local charities and causes since it began.

Taking place on Saturday 23 June, the main walk consists of a 48-mile circuit around the island and is also available as a relay option for teams of four people to take on the famous route. The Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge returns in 2018, which offers a gentler but still rewarding 13-mile course.
