Islanders who are struggling to heat their homes this winter will get extra help over the winter months thanks to Rubis, Channel Islands leading energy company. As soaring fuel prices threaten to place pressure on household budgets in the coming winter months, Rubis will be giving £20,000 worth of heating oil vouchers in both Jersey and Guernsey to those who need it.

Each winter fuel voucher is worth £100, and the vouchers will be distributed by the Salvation Army in Jersey and the Guernsey Welfare Service from 01st November.

Nick Crolla, Head of Sales & Marketing, Rubis Channel Islands commented, “Rubis has a long history of supporting the local community and we are pleased to be involved with this voucher scheme again this year, in partnership with both the charities.”

Richard Nunn from The Salvation Army in Jersey said, “So many people are finding themselves in financial difficulty. This heating oil voucher scheme from Rubis enables us to offer significant practical assistance with the cost of heating. For some who may be faced with having to chose between heating or food, these vouchers will make a difference. We are really grateful to Rubis for partnering with us, and would encourage anyone who is struggling with the cost of their heating oil to come to us for support.”

Sue Le Friec from the Guernsey Welfare Service added, “With an increasing number of people turning to Guernsey Welfare for assistance, we are delighted that Rubis are offering support through providing free oil vouchers again this year.  Although we’ve had a mild October, the thought of a cold winter looming is causing many people to be anxious. This is a great community initiative to help those who need it most and we are very grateful to Rubis for this support.”

Those who need support this winter with the cost of their heating oil are invited to get in touch with The Salvation Army in Jersey and the Guernsey Welfare Service. Individuals can collect a voucher, before contacting Rubis to redeem it and arrange their order of heating oil.
