The 23rd edition of the combined clubs' Jersey Regatta, generously sponsored by offshore law firm Carey Olsen gets underway on Thursday 9 September.

Regatta Chairman Bill Harris reports that the greater part of entries, including those of visiting boats, are in and that arrangements are well advanced for this three-day jamboree.

"Whilst the Government's 'track and trace' rules continue, this 'flagship' event is expected to open with the usual welcoming reception and distribution of Carey Olsen 'goodies' on the Thursday evening followed by further social activity each evening, including the regatta party on Saturday and traditional bumper prize-giving on Sunday," said Bill.

"All but the party night are included in the modest entry fee, making this one of the best value-for-money regattas on the circuit."

Racing takes place from Friday to Sunday with courses being set in the beautiful arena of St Aubin's Bay and, in the case of the cruiser classes, in extended coastal waters.

The 8th IRC Channel Islands Championship is, once again, a major attraction in the cruiser/racer programme and while Jersey boasts a strong competitive element in all classes, the Regatta is designed to accommodate sailors from across the spectrum, novice and expert alike. With no visiting boats in 2020 due to Covid, this year sees the truly welcome return of boats from Guernsey, France and, potentially, the UK.

Whilst the official closing date for entries is Friday 3 September, an extension to Thursday 9 applies for visiting boats that will have to observe the Government's ongoing Covid entry procedures (https://www.gov.je/Health/Coronavirus/Travel/Pages/CoronavirusTravelAdvice.aspx for detailed information).

Entry is online through the Regatta website, www.jerseyregatta.com; this is also where skippers will find all of the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

Complimentary berthing, kindly provided by Jersey Marinas, is once again a feature for boats competing in the Regatta. Visiting boats will, however, need to contact Jersey Marinas to book a berth prior to arrival via jerseymarinas@ports.je.

All competitors are assured of a warm welcome and, weather permitting, a great and memorable time at the Carey Olsen Jersey Regatta. For further information, contact: info@jerseyregatta.com in the first instance or call +44 1534 732229.
