Skipton International is seeking to expand its mortgage team with the appointment of a Jersey Sales Manager. The Channel Islands’ bank has seen its mortgage lending in Jersey grow to over £300million this year with its Jersey mortgage book expected to exceed Guernsey lending next year.

Director of Lending, Nigel Pascoe said expanding the team had become essential to ensure they can maintain their reputation for excellent customer relations, ‘We have a wide network of intermediaries who sell our mortgages in the island, as well as individual clients, it is essential that we are able to offer them all the personal attention for which we are known and respected.’

The Jersey based Sales manager will report to Nigel Pascoe and will be advertised in the local media.

Skipton International started offering mortgages in Jersey in 2005 and has been Guernsey’s leading supplier of new mortgages for three years running. Its mortgage portfolio includes the Next Generation Mortgage (100% Loan to Value product) to help buyers get on the property ladder, and this year they have become the only mortgage lender to support the Deposit Loan Scheme set up by the States to enable islanders without a large deposit to purchase their first home.

Nigel Pascoe said the new appointment will be somebody who is local or ‘entitled to work’ in the island: ‘The fact we have continued to expand during a downturn in the property market shows that we have been providing the right products to suit local needs. We think it is therefore critical to build on that local expertise with the appointment of somebody who knows and understands the Jersey market.’
