Standard Bank’s offshore compliance team received the award for Outstanding Service to Compliance and Regulation in the ‘Best Compliance Team – Regulated Firms’ category beating off competition from around the UK.
The ceremony, held recently at the Lancaster Hotel in London, was the 10th anniversary of the inauguration of the awards.
Sean Flanagan who heads up the Standard Bank Offshore Compliance Team from Jersey said: ‘I believe that this award represents not only a great achievement for the team, it reflects the significant efforts made by Standard Bank as it strives to provide excellent client satisfaction and world class service with a focus on African markets.’
The Compliance Register was founded in 1995.
It promotes excellence in regulatory compliance and regulation both in the UK and overseas with members all across the UK and in most of the world’s leading financial centres including New York, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai. The awards themselves were established in 2004 and were designed to strengthen best practice in the financial services sector, reward excellence and help to reduce the likelihood of future financial crises.
Mark Hucker, Chief Executive of Standard Bank in Jersey: ‘I am delighted that the Compliance team has been recognised for their achievements. This not only reflects well on them, but for the bank as a whole.
‘As a former Chief Risk Officer myself I am particularly pleased that our Compliance team has been recognised in these awards. We strongly believe that achieving excellence in this field might not seem to be the ‘exciting’ area of banking, but it is the essential bedrock on which our whole industry sits, proving honesty and integrity are core to our business. Well done to the team for their efforts.’
