The TMF Island Walk takes place in just over three weeks, but there’s still time for Islanders to register and be a part of Jersey’s greatest charity challenge.

The main walk covers 48 miles of our Island’s beautiful coastline and sees people of all ages taking part. For those who might find that a few steps too far, there is the family-friendly Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge, which this year covers the 13 miles from Les Fontaines to Le Braye and is the last time that Air Chief Marshall, Sir Stephen Dalton will lead the walk. Teams can also take part in a relay event around the island.

Every penny raised by walkers goes directly to the chosen charities, with all the organisation carried out by volunteers, and all costs for the event paid for by sponsors, TMF Group.

This year the charities benefitting are: Age Concern Jersey, Centrepoint, JSPCA, Autism Jersey, Durrell, Freedom Church, Jersey National Park, Trees for Life, and Milli’s Separated Family Centre. Girlguiding Jersey, the States of Jersey Ambulance Service, and the 10th Jersey (St Brelades) Scout Group, will also all receive smaller donations in thanks for their help with the running and operation of the walks.

Tim Houghton, Market Head – Channel Islands, for TMF Group said: “The Island walk is such an iconic event for Jersey. You get to see the best views our Island has to offer and in return raise money for those in the community who need our help. The Trustees and organisers do a fantastic job of ensuring walkers are looked after and the sense of achievement when you cross that finish line, is second to none. I’d urge everyone to have a go, and if it’s your first time and you’ve not been training, then try the Lieutenant Governor’s walk. You’ll get the bug I guarantee it.”

The Island Walk takes place on Saturday 18th June. Walkers can sign up via the Islandwalk.je website. Under 16s can register for free on the LG walk.
