Sure customers can, for the first time ever, make donations to BBC Children in Need by text.

Sure customers can, for the first time ever, make donations to BBC Children in Need by text.

Previously islanders in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man have been unable to access the numbers advertised. But this year, Sure will host the numbers in each island, making it easier to donate.

‘This is great news because in other years the numbers have been blocked locally and therefore people have had to donate in other ways,’ said Jessica Bisson, Sure’s PR and marketing manager.

‘We know Children in Need is a popular event for local fundraising and many people enjoy watching the main show in the evening. By opening the lines up it means that our customers can donate money in a convenient manner if they wish to and can get involved immediately when celebrities are appealing for donations during a certain sector of the show.’

The numbers to use will be 70701, 70705 and 70710, for donations of £1, £5 and £10 respectively.

BBC Children in Need raises money to provide grants for projects in the UK, focusing on disadvantaged children and young people. The appeal night takes place on BBC One every year in November and features celebrities singing, dancing and doing all sorts of crazy things to help raise money.

This year’s Children in Need appeal night on takes place on Friday 15 November.
