A colour run, a charity challenge, an educational walk and events for families are all on the schedule this weekend to allow you to get out in the fresh air whilst supporting local charities.

Join Ocean in giving back to the hospital

When? Sunday 21 May – 09:15 to 09:45.

Where? Archirondel

What? A passionate teenage swimmer is hoping to use her long-distance skills to give back to Jersey General Hospital after having to spend six months there due to a recently diagnosed rare genetic condition. Alongside the Long Distance Swimming Club, Ocean Brown has organised a fundraising swim to raise money for Corbiere Ward, where she spent months being looked after. Islanders of all ages and abilities are invited to take part. For those who don't wish to get in the sea, a cake sale will be taking place at the same time.

FNHC Colour Festival 2023

When? Saturday 20 May – 13:00 to 15:00

Where? St. Aubin’s Bay

What? Family Nursing & Home Care's Colour Festival is a celebration of life for the whole family. The festival includes a 5km colour run (or walk) and DJ.  Participants pass through five colour stations where they are showered with different coloured, environmentally friendly, powdered paint. The colour blast 'paint the sky' will take place at 14:40. All funds raised from the event go towards supporting the work of FNHC’s Paediatric Palliative Care Worker who cares for children with life-threatening and/or life-limiting conditions.

Ecosystems of the East

When? Saturday 20 May – 10:00 to 12:00

Where? St. Catherine’s Woods, Le Mazeline Reservoir

What? An educational walk with naturalist John Pinel to look at the variety of biodiversity that can be found in St. Catherine’s Woods.

A Wall is a Screen

When? Saturday 20 May – 21:15

Where? From West’s Centre – St. Helier

What? Hamburg-based artist group “A Wall is a Screen” has come to Jersey as part of the 13th Parish Film Festival to present an open-air film walk which consists of projecting short films on walls and other urban structures.

Youth Celebration Day

When? Saturday 20 May – 11:00 to 16:00

Where? Royal Jersey Showground, Trinity

What? St. John Ambulance is hosting a Youth Celebration Day, a free event with activities for children to see and do. With the charity, along Scouts, Girlguiding, Jersey Youth Service and the Air Training Corps, taking part, the day will also be the opportunity to meet and hear about volunteering in the community.

Peas & Glove – The Final Wave

When? Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May – 12:30 to 21:00

Where? Watersplash, St. Ouen

What? Peas & Glove is hosting its final event in memory of Olly Newman. 50 local bands and DJ’s will be on hand to provide live music, with islanders invited to take part in games, get their faces painted and even surf or paddle. There will also be motorbike stunt riding, hog roast and many other stalls. All money raised will go to Healing Waves.

South Coast Charity Challenge 2023

Where? From La Rocque to Corbiere

What? Join Jersey Mencap’s annual South Coast Charity Challenge with a 15-mile walk from La Rocque to Corbiere.
