A chartered wealth manager with more than 18 years’ experience has been appointed head of wealth management at Butterfield Bank (Guernsey) Limited.
Colleen McHugh will work closely with the Private Banking and Asset Management teams to build a cohesive strategy to develop the business.
‘I have been fortunate over many years in different jurisdictions and in a variety of roles to develop a broad and deep experience of the wealth management industry. I intend to use the knowledge and experience I have acquired to help Butterfield build upon its current successes and develop the business in the future,’ she said.

She has worked across a range of sectors and in a number of geographical locations. Her appointment will further strengthen our position and help foster long-term success.’
Mrs McHugh, whose most recent role was a corporate investment specialist at Barclays, has worked closely over the years with high net worth individuals and the fiduciary sector, as well as institutional clients within the re-insurance and captive insurance industries. Her experience spans a range of jurisdictions, including the UK, Ireland, Bermuda, Cayman and the Isle of Man.
Mrs McHugh, who holds an economics degree and an MBA in banking, is a fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute; she is an experienced trader, holding the National Association of Securities and Dealers Association (NASD) Series 7 and UK Registered Representatives qualifications.
