Delegates will get the chance to hear from a senior member of Vodafone’s communications team at the upcoming Channel Islands PR Forum 2017.

PR 2022 – Future Communications’ is being hosted by the Channel Islands Group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) in Guernsey on Wednesday 20th September.

The forum will examine emerging trends, such as technological developments, which are set to impact on public relations practice over the next five years and the implications for practitioners working in the profession in the Channel Islands.

Nicola Rossi, head of external affairs at Vodafone Group Enterprise – a €12 billion business which provides products and services to other companies all over the world – will showcase some of the ways her team are adapting their practices to meet the changing media landscape.

‘I am delighted that Nicola will be speaking at the forum. It is a real coup to secure a senior communications practitioner from such a well-known global brand,’ said Mark Oliphant, chair of the CIPR Channel Islands Group.

‘I think it will be hugely valuable for practitioners working in the Channel Islands to hear tangible examples of the innovative approaches which Nicola and her colleagues are employing at a time of such profound change.’

Since graduating from University College London, Ms Rossi has worked in-house across numerous communications management disciplines, primarily in telecommunications, technology and health.

Most recently, she has driven a campaign-based approach to earned media relations, resulting in an exponential increase in media coverage, building the credibility of Vodafone’s enterprise capabilities globally.

She has recently returned from a six month sabbatical to complete a Masters Degree in Digital Media at Goldsmiths University.

‘I’m looking forward to visiting the islands and being able to share my experience and thoughts on the way in which technology is presenting challenges but also opportunities for communications practitioners,’ said Ms Rossi, who is based in London.

‘I’ll be sharing examples of how we have increased earned media coverage through a campaign-based approach and I’ll also be talking about the social media audit we recently conducted and the success we have had in using digital channels, for instance through employee advocacy.’

Other speakers at the event will include Tara Cunningham, founder of Northern Irish consultancy IslandSky and Andrew Bruce Smith, managing director of London-based consultancy Escherman.

They and Ms Rossi will be joined by artificial intelligence expert David Phillips for a concluding panel session which will moderated by Iain Beresford, chief business development and marketing officer at law firm Collas Crill.

PR 2022 – Future Communications will take place from 12.30pm to 5pm on Wednesday 20th September at the Digital Greenhouse in Guernsey.
