The Guernsey branch of the Chartered Institute of Building will mark its 21 year anniversary with a gala dinner in April, featuring a leading construction expert, Simon Matthews as guest speaker.

Simon is an experienced construction consultant who specialises in strategic procurement, supply-chain management and commercial management solutions for public and private sector clients.

During his 25-year career Simon has worked on programmes and projects of up to £20 billion in value. Notable organisations with which he has worked include High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, London Legacy Development Corporation, E20 Stadium LLP, Olympic Park Legacy Company, Office of National Statistics, States of Jersey, Houses of Parliament, and Channel Islands Co-operative Society. Simon is known for being a highly motivated and dynamic individual, having delivered numerous strategies and plans under challenging circumstances and helped clients to realise their aspirations.

Managing director of local property consultancy Property Plus, Tim Guilbert who is the president of the CIOB in Guernsey, is delighted that Simon accepted the institute’s invitation to speak:

‘Simon has a fantastic range of experience in the construction world and he has been involved in some extremely large projects. We are very pleased that he will be speaking at our event and I am sure that he will give valuable insight into some of the programmes he has been involved with. His contribution will help us mark this important milestone for the CIOB’s Guernsey branch.’

The CIOB Guernsey’s 21st anniversary gala dinner takes place at St Pierre Park Hotel on Thursday 23 April. Bookings and enquires can be made by emailing Tim on tcg@cwgsy.net.

The evening will include a silent auction in aid of charity and a graduation ceremony for a number of the CIOB’s newest Guernsey members. The event will also be attended by Ghassan Aouad, the worldwide CIOB president.
