Representatives of twenty one Guernsey businesses were in London on October 12th in a big show of support and sponsorship for a States of Guernsey promotional event.

One of the main purposes of the event was to educate London-based intermediaries including law firms, tax advisors and accountants about the many merits of Guernsey so they could in turn educate their clients. Heather Maizels, Senior Advisor at London law firm Charles Russell Speechlys said:

“I immediately thought of families who might be drawn to Guernsey, and later suggested to one family they should take a good look. I felt it made sense given their motivations for leaving the UK, the interests the family now wish to enjoy, and the importance of being easily able to return for family and business reasons”

Organised by Locate Guernsey, the event took place at the highest dedicated events space in London, 740 feet high near the very top of the iconic Leadenhall Building, also known as the Cheesegrater.

Attendees at the event were positive about what they had seen and heard. Oswald Lopes, Vice President of FinTech company InfrasoftTech said:

“We were delighted to participate at this very well attended event at an excellent venue. The opportunity to do business in Guernsey was promoted in a professional and welcoming way with technology as a driver to benefit the economy”

The event, which took place over a lunch featuring Guernsey ingredients, included a speech from the Deputy Lyndon Trott, the Deputy Chief Minister, and a keynote address from Guernsey resident, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Zef Eisenberg.

The event was a great advert for Guernsey with a passionate speech from Zef Eisenberg,” said Mark Savage from sponsor, BDO. “A client sitting on our table was impressed by the scale and professionalism which is on offer in Guernsey”
