Peter Walpole is to retire as Chairman of Insurance Corporation of the Channel Islands (ICCI) at the end of 2016. Founding the company in 1982 Peter went on to be managing director for 25 years and chairman for 10 years and is to continue as senior director for a further 12 months.

‘I have spent 35 splendid years at Insurance Corporation starting in a small, single-roomed office in Anne’s Place with an empty filing cabinet, one desk but with a vision. Now we are the leading insurance provider in the Channel Islands with a full-time staff of 40 across the islands. We have a fantastic team and I have every confidence in our operations moving forward led by our managing director Mandy Hunt. I would like to sincerely thank them, our customers, our suppliers, our board and our excellent broker network for their contribution to our success and for making my time here so enjoyable.

‘My retirement from Insurance Corporation has been planned for a while and I look forward to spending more time with my wife Jean, children and grandchildren who live in Guernsey, Switzerland, Perth Western Australia and San Francisco. I shall also be able to focus more on other business interests’.

‘I congratulate Paul Masterton who has been appointed as the next Chairman of Insurance Corporation. He will take up his new position in January 2017 and I predict a long and successful future for the business.’
