The final seminar in the JT sponsored IOD Winter Series takes place on Friday 27 March with a look at education in the 21st Century, focussing on the statement: "Education is on the tip of everyone’s tongue as Guernsey educators shape what it looks like in a digitally led world and recent media coverage continues to fuel discussion."
Organised by the Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors and supported by JT, the series has offered thought provoking insight and opened-up dialogue between IoD members, educators and the wider business community. The final seminar will again be held in the Colborne Room at the Old Government House Hotel on Friday 27 March, between 12.45pm and 2pm and is open to members and non-members.
Offering a view from the Education Department on our Island’s Schools’ strategy will be Deputy Robert Sillars. He will be joined on the panel by Chief Officer of the Guernsey Education Department, John Buckland, and Lindsey MacDonald, who is the Education Development Officer and Maths adviser within the Education Department’s Standards and Learning Effectiveness Team.
Rob Jones from the Guernsey IoD Committee said: “We are delighted to have assembled a highly experienced group who will talk in a panel-style format around the topic of education bringing to a conclusion a very interesting seminar series which has given our members and guests a comprehensive overview of education today. Our thanks to JT for assisting us in hosting this important seminar series and to all panellists and moderators for their invaluable input.”
Tamara O’Brien, Deputy Managing Director, JT (Guernsey), said “Rounding off another highly successful series of seminars, the event on Friday promises to provide a really thorough overview of Guernsey’s current education system as well as a look to the future. With JT’s continued investment in technology infrastructure for Guernsey our aim is to help schools and educators to have the tools they need to help Guernsey compete on a world stage and provide students and teachers alike with the support they need for learning in a digitally enabled environment. We are looking forward to hearing from the informed and expert panel who will no doubt offer their own take on education to kick-start the debate.”
Deadline for bookings is 24 March 2015.
