Lancaster Guernsey is the new sponsor of the recently rejuvenated GFA Railway League. The local fiduciary and investment services company has agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with the GFA which will support the local footballing community and help the Railway League continue to flourish.

Simon Graham, the founder and Group Managing Director of Lancaster says: ‘The Railway league has played a vital role over the years for Guernsey players at both ends of the age spectrum. Whether it is to provide young players with their first senior league experience or as a social opportunity for older players who still have something to contribute to competitive football, the Railway League has a key function and we are delighted to be supporting it.’

Nick Graham, the chairman of the Guernsey Football League Management board says he is delighted that Lancaster is supporting local football in this way: ‘Historically, the Railway League has provided regular structured football for players at GFA clubs, and in recent years has expanded into two divisions with new clubs joining from the social leagues. It has also allowed over 16’s to have their first taste of senior competitive leagues where appropriate. The support and backing from our partnership with Lancaster, will help the GFL continue to develop the leagues and help to retain senior players by having these popular and growing competitive league structures.’

Gary Roberts, CEO of the Guernsey Football Association added “FA affiliated football under both GFA and more recently GFL has expanded with more players continuing to join. It is pleasing to report that of all the FA Counties, Guernsey was recently ranked by the FA as number 2 throughout the whole of the UK for the expansion of players at senior levels.”
