Organisers are urging more sailors to take up the challenge of the 10th annual Louvre Autumn Sailing Series.

Organised by the Guernsey Yacht Club culminates in all classes racing together on the 26th October followed by a prize-giving.

The handicapped race challenge sees four classes of yachts and dinghies accrue points over seven weekends in September and October.

Long-term sponsorship from Louvre Group has made this series possible for ten years and it is well supported with over 16 boats expected to take part this year.

This year the Guernsey Yacht Club is using sponsorship funds from Louvre Group and other corporate benefactors to help purchase a new committee boat. The existing boat has been in use for over 35 years and the committee is very keen to replace the vessel.

"Thanks to Louvre and other sponsors we have secured the deposit for the boat which is now on order and due to arrive in November. Having long-term sponsorship has really helped the Yacht Club to reach our goal. We do need to keep raising further funds to help pay for it," explained Laurence Watson, Rear Commodore Sail, Guernsey Yacht Club.

Haidée Stephens, Director of Louvre Group, said: "Louvre has enjoyed being part of the sailing community for many years now through this annual event. We’re looking forward to following the races once again in 2015.

"Last year Matt Knowles won class one and two so he’s the man to beat this season. We also look forward to welcoming anyone new to racing and urge our junior sailors to join in."
