Over 250 students from the Sixth Form Centre’s new Year 12s spent a day at its annual team building day at Les Maingys, getting to know each other through a range of physical and mental activities.

Sponsored for the seventh year by RBC Wealth Management, the day is seen as an important opportunity for the sixteen year olds, who have come from all the Bailiwick’s States and private schools, the UK and beyond, to bond as a year group, ahead of two years of either ‘A’ Level or IB DP studies.

Deputy Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form Studies, Kieran James said: ‘The Team Building Day is a fun and supportive environment for our new students, that allows them to get to know each other and their tutor and build friendships through a day of supportive teamwork. The year group participates as tutor groups;, each one chooses their own team nameand costumes, always with very creative results.  We remain extremely grateful for the continued support of RBC to allow this valuable event to continue each year. Along with Les Maingys and Outdoor Guernsey, RBC’s staff involvement on the day is most welcome.’

Andy Creber from RBC Wealth Management’s Guernsey Leadership Team added: ‘I’ve helped out on the day since RBC started its support. For me, it’s very rewarding to watch a wide cross-section of young people arrive in the morning, unsure about what the day will be like but leaving having learnt some important life skills.  Working collaboratively, being supportive, showing initiative and acting as a team member or a leader, are all transferrable skills they’ll need in a few short years when they enter the workforce. Youth and education are two key areas of RBC community interest so we are naturally delighted to continue our support of the Sixth Form Centre’s Team Building Day.’
