Staff from Saffery Champness will be out in force on Saturday as they prepare to take part in the Pink Ladies Sunset Walk.
Sixteen employees from the firm, who have dubbed themselves the ‘Saffery Belles’, will participate in the walk from Grandes Rocques to town to raise money for the local breast cancer support group.
Saffery Champness, who has entered a team in every walk since its inception, also sponsors the medals received by all those who complete the walk and will double the sponsorship raised by its staff.
Sharon McHenry and Tomina Hobbs, who have been busy organising the ‘Saffery Belles’, said that they are continually overwhelmed by the staff’s enthusiasm and generosity.
“It’s such a great event that gets everyone from Saffery’s involved, whether it’s through participation or kind donations. There is a great camaraderie between all the women involved and it’s fantastic to see so many people working together in support of a local charitable cause,” Ms McHenry said.
The Pink Ladies was set up in 2001 by several local women who were undergoing treatment for breast cancer and wanted contact with others in a similar position. The walk was first established in 2007 and sees thousands of women of all ages take part in the biennial event.
Nick Batiste, managing director from Saffery Champness, said: “As a business Saffery Champness aims to get involved with community and charity events that make a fundamental difference to people’s lives and our staff always gets behind this event.
“Sponsoring the medals is an opportunity for us to congratulate all those who have completed the walk and thank them for the money they have raised for such a worthwhile local cause.”
The Saffery Champness Pink Ladies Team is: Sharon McHenry, Sharon Hickman, Tomina Hobbs, Margaret Pearson, Jill Hutton, Lucy Dodd, Carla Allen, Michelle Scott, Mandy Hallett, Danielle Bougourd, Allison Brouard, Helen Green, Claire Tersigni, Jenny Warry, Emma Wild and Maria Adam.
