Shaken Not Stirred, a James Bond-themed cocktail competition sponsored by Elian, raised almost £5,000 for Autism Guernsey.

Ten teams of five business people had 30 minutes to prepare and sell as many cocktails as they could to 70 thirsty guests at the Elian Cocktail Challenge at Urban Kitchen.

The team from Terra Firma, who collected more than £600 in donations from selling their ‘Thumper’ cocktail – a gin based mojito, with sugar syrup and cloudy apple juice – took the coveted golden Elian Cocktail Challenge pineapple trophy. KPMG's 'Jager Bond' cocktail, which was accompanied by a Bond silhouette and cocktail menu card, with Bond masked servers and the opportunity to have your finger sprayed gold for a donation, won the prize for best themed cocktail.

A real variety across all the cocktails meant that there was something for everyone.  This included a champagne and bourbon offering from PwC, a layered ‘Sunset Royale’ with vodka and midori from Ravenscroft, the "M-ogier-ita" from Ogier, and the bright Blue Eagle cocktail from Barclays. Mid Europa's cocktail was available over an ice block, accompanied with indoor fireworks and party poppers.

Tom Amy, managing director Elian in Guernsey, said the firm wanted to continue to help Autism Guernsey in its ongoing campaign to raise the necessary funds to sustain the level of support currently being given to those on the autism spectrum.

"Elian is delighted to again be supporting Autism Guernsey, having previously organised Castle Crusade, a family scavenger hunt, which raised funds for the charity in 2014.  It is vital that we help local charities with their fundraising challenge and we are delighted to have exceeded our target of £3,000 for Autism Guernsey," said Mr Amy.

"The evening was a huge success and we have had fantastic support from local businesses in entering teams.  It is intended to make this an annual event, with a Halloween themed ‘Potion Party’ looking likely for 2016."

Nick Bachmann, fundraising director at Autism Guernsey, added: "Elian has been incredibly supportive in helping Autism Guernsey in its ongoing campaign to raise funds to provide services to individuals and their families that are impacted by autism. We currently support 84 adults, young people and children who are on the autism spectrum and Autism Guernsey receives new requests for assistance constantly. The sheer demand for support is becoming increasingly harder to meet, so events such as the Elian Cocktail Challenge are absolutely crucial in raising desperately needed funds so we can continue to provide support to the autism community."
