To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Liberation Day, Sure has published a special edition of its annual telephone directory.
The 2015 directory, which is available now, has a liberation theme and includes photos of islanders celebrating on 9 May 1945 on the front cover.
The commemorative version of the book also includes a copy of the King’s broadcast to the Channel Islands and features photos of SS Vega and the British forces arriving in St Peter Port Harbour.
“We wanted to do something special to mark this significant anniversary and we agreed that publishing a liberation edition of the directory would be a great way to commemorate the 70th,” said Martin Eon, directory team manager.
“We have chosen photographs of islanders celebrating on Liberation Day in 1945 as the theme of the 70th Liberation celebrations is ‘remember and celebrate with island pride’. We really wanted to focus on the celebration and including photos from Liberation Day was a good way of portraying the elation islanders experienced after years of occupation.”
New in the directory this year, which is also available to search online, are the St Peter Port Tide Tables which go through to March 2016.
The phone directory can be picked up from Alliance, Earlswood Garden Centre, Forest Stores, Iceland in St Martins, Le Friquet Garden Centre, St Peters Food Hall, Torteval Stores, Waitrose and Sure.
