Richard Allen, executive head chef at Tassili restaurant at the five star Grand Jersey, and his team are celebrating after learning the restaurant has retained its coveted Michelin Star status for the third successive year.
Richard Allen commented, ‘I am overwhelmed to have been once again awarded a Michelin Star. Tassili continues to grow and develop its offering and, along with the rest of the team, we are very proud to offer islanders and visitors such high quality dining. Much has been made in recent days about Jersey becoming a genuine ‘foodie’ destination, and I am delighted that Tassili at Grand Jersey is a part of such a positive story for Jersey as a food tourism destination.’
Grand Jersey general manager Eamonn Elliott added, ‘The whole team at Grand Jersey is so proud of Richard and restaurant manager Shaun Corrigan and the team for their commitment to producing consistently excellent food. Richard continues to put the very best of local produce at the heart of his cuisine and has built an enviable reputation as a leading chef both in the island and further afield.’
Mr Allen has won a string of awards for his culinary excellence. He was included in the prestigious Debrett’s People of Today list, while the restaurant itself is featured in the prestigious Good Food Guide and also holds three AA rosettes. Mr Allen, who joined Tassili as executive head chef in 2007, was also crowned Hotel Catey Hotel Chef of the Year in 2012.
Grand Jersey’s restaurant manager and master sommelier, Shaun Corrigan, has also reached the final of the Academy of Food and Wine Service’s UK Restaurant Manager of the Year 2013 competition, which will be held on 7th October. Grand Jersey has also had an exceptional few years, winning awards and recognition across the board.
