Full Description

TIME FOR A CHANGE … AND TO PUT YOUR LIFESKILLS TO WORK Jersey may only be 9 x 5 miles in size, but we also have over 800 square miles of territorial waters!  Jersey Coastguard is charged with the responsibility of keeping these waters safe, providing security and protecting the maritime environment, whilst the VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) manages the commercial shipping around the port of St Helier.   Whether you have prior nautical experience, or just a passion for all things maritime, then this could be the opportunity for you. Running 24/7, 365 days a year, no two days/nights will be the same, you must be prepared for anything and comfortable switching from the routine and predictable to the unusual and potentially emergency situations. We’ll provide the on-the-ground training you’ll need to get your marine/technological knowledge up to speed to take the necessary qualifications. It’s also those core life skills that make you who you are that we’re also interested in, and you could have gained those from almost any working experience. First and foremost is your ability to interact effectively with anyone from any walk of life in any circumstance. You remain cool, calm and collected and apply sound judgement and common-sense to whatever you encounter, and continually look for the positive solution with a great eye for accuracy in what is a hugely dynamic and state-of-the-art Maritime Operations Centre.   We’re proud of what we do and the difference we are making. If you’d like to find out more about how you can be part of our growing business then please call Aaron Gavey on (01534) 447759 or submit your CV, along with the reasons why you think this is the right opportunity for you at www.ports.je/recruitment
