Full Description

Use your data analysis and visualisation skills to help Jersey Post deliver great service to our Island!

You will be working in the Operations department providing ad-hoc analysis and developing reporting capabilities to drive an efficient and high-quality delivery service covering postal, parcels and off-Island logistics. Your contributions will help improve operational performance day-to-day and also support future planning, customer on-boarding and evolution of the Operations department.

The Operations Director will be your line manager setting priorities and tasks, but you will also collaborate closely with the Head of Data Exploitation on technical issues such as the data platform, training, tooling and processes and you will be included as part of the wider ICT team.

Who are you now?
We're not looking for cookie-cutter candidates. You might be a mid-level MI/BI analyst or maybe you have more of a statistics background. What's for certain is that you will relish the opportunity to dive into an operational environment, explore and understand it, model it and report on it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data and reporting requirements gathering.
  • Report development and maintenance.
  • Effective data visualisation to efficiently communicate key insights.
  • User training in using reports and making best use of available query tools.
  • Promoting and facilitating data-driven decision making.
  • Provide data modelling and analysis.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Post-holders will be expected to undertake reasonable requests from managers in line with the range and scope of the post.
  • The conduct of the post holder must be in accordance with the terms of any Jersey legislation e.g. employment legislation, human rights etc.
  • The Post holder must comply with the requirements of the Risk Management Policy and all other relevant policies.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Possess effective and demonstrable skills with the Microsoft SQL Server / Business Intelligence technology stack. T-SQL skills and experience are essential. Experience with Azure Data Platform or PowerBI would be considered an advantage.
  • Excel skills are essential for ad-hoc analysis and data presentation.
  • Demonstrable visualisation and data presentation skills would be considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with using data to answer complex questions while maintaining an appreciation of the dataset’s provenance and limitations.
  • Be able to balance self-directed research to learn and solve problems with asking for assistance when necessary.
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business intelligence analyst.
Previous experience in Postal or Logistics is not essential.
