Full Description

Use your data analysis and visualisation skills to help Jersey Post Group deliver great service to our Island and beyond!

Jersey Post Group is more than simply the postal operator in Jersey: we have a global logistics network with partners and customers on five continents and counting. Our operations generate data from diverse sources: automated sorting machines, retail point-of-sale systems, local and international consignment, despatch and tracking systems as well as the usual array of company administration activities such as finance and HR. Your contributions will help improve operational and business performance day-to-day and the evolution of our business into a global logistics provider.

How do we work?
We're flexible on when your usual working hours are. Jersey-based staff can be either office-based at Postal HQ or predominately remote with some days in the office. UK-based staff would be remote-based, although if you're near one of our locations in Portsmouth or Hounslow then being office-based could be an option if you prefer. All meetings can be virtual.

What will you do?
At 9am there is the IT Department informal meeting to keep everyone in touch. A typical day will vary, and there's no escaping some meetings! Your usual activities will include developing Power BI reports and dashboards, backed by analytical models, that help business users understand their areas by creating visualisations which clearly convey the things important to them. To do that, though, you will need to collaborate with operational staff, business users and subject matter experts to understand the problems that have been assigned to you and what data is available to help. This could mean being on the sorting office floor to understand how automated sortation equipment is being used, talking with supervisors and managers, or grappling with international regulations. As with any business, there is also the occasional service desk ticket that will need attending to as well. You will also be expected to be improving your skills with regular in-work-hours training.

Who are you now?
There's no fixed mould you need to fit. You might be a mid-level MI/BI analyst, but maybe you have more of a statistics or other STEM background. What's for certain is that you are numerate, curious, and will relish the opportunity to take initiative and dive into an operational environment, explore and understand it, model it and report on it.
