Full Description

The Head of Academy is a new role created to oversee the strategic and operational running of the Digital Jersey Academy. You’ll be responsible for implementing the Academy’s business plans, ensuring the facility is fully utilised, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and researching new opportunities. You will also be a key player in the Digital Jersey team and be expected to contribute to planning and strategy meetings. This is a varied role with a great deal of autonomy and would suit someone with a proactive and forward-thinking mindset.

The Digital Jersey Academy (DJA) is the island’s only focused facility for higher-level digital skills development. The DJA opens in September 2019 and has been established to benefit: students leaving secondary education, those currently in the digital sector looking to up-skill, and those in other industries looking to enter the sector.

The DJA has been established by Digital Jersey, which is the government-backed economic development agency and industry association dedicated to the growth of the digital sector. We work to upskill the island’s workforce, create new digital jobs, help companies to increase their productivity, and develop strategies to make Jersey a world-leading base for digital innovation.

Key Responsibilities
·       Deliver against the Digital Jersey Academy business plan and direction set by the Digital Skills Partnership
·       Manage the smooth day-to-day running of the Digital Jersey Academy, and ensure the facility is fully utilised  
·       Work with Digital Jersey’s academic partners to ensure courses taught from the Academy are successful
·       Ensuring that course providers are meeting quantitative and qualitative targets
·       Manage relationship with existing corporate sponsors and identify new corporate sponsors
·       Collate management information and provide updates to the Digital Jersey Board on the progress of the DJA, against key performance indicators
·       Have oversight of the Academy PR and Comms
·       Continuously review the courses to ensure that identified skills gaps are being addressed
·       Manage the Digital Skills Partnership, which brings together Government, Industry and Education, to coordinate the approach to digital learning in Jersey
·       Represent Digital Jersey on key government and industry working groups to develop new education policy related to digital skills development
·       Apply for funding from both the Population Office and central Government to further expand the Academy and its provision

Essential skills
·       Experience in Education, either via a policy or delivery role
·       Excellent written and presentation skills
·       Business planning and longer-term strategic thinking
·       Stakeholder management
·       Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple priorities – whilst adhering to deadlines.

Desirable skills
·       Public Policy Development
·       Experience in facilities and budget management 
·       Track record for analysing problems or issues and recommending creative solutions
