Channel Islands Business Overview 
J.P. Morgan in the Channel Islands is aligned with the firms’ Corporate and Investment Banks Investors Services business. Investor Services in Jersey provides Trustee, Depositary, Global Custody, Administration, Transfer Agency and Management services to Channel Islands investment structures These services are offered through 3 Jersey and 2 Guernsey regulated entities with a range of financial services licences including: 

  • Trust Company Business;
  • Fund Services Business;
  • MoME, AIF Services Business and Banking Business. 
 Our Operating model involves outsourcing certain activities to JPMorgan Centres of Excellence locations in EMEA. The provision of outsourced activities is provided under Service Level Agreements with the other JPMorgan entities. Oversight of activities outsourced is monitored and controlled locally. 

Job Description and Key Responsibilities: 
The responsibilities of the role are varied and involve liaison with key stakeholders internally and externally to ensure the outsourced activities of the local Administrator are discharged in compliance with service level agreements, local regulatory guidance, rules and laws. Whilst the role is Jersey based, support is also provided to our Guernsey funds. The Oversight Officer acts in a key liaison role for our clients and our client’s funds board of directors through attendance and reporting at fund board meetings. The Fund Accounting responsibilities involve high level reviews of the net asset value calculations for some funds on a daily basis, and more detailed reviews on a periodic basis. The detailed retrospective reviews cover an analytical review of the constituent parts of the net asset value by following a defined program. Any distribution calculations will also be reviewed locally, along with any other Corporate Actions. Any issues identified are escalated to the Operations teams through internal channels and monitored until resolved. The Transfer Agency and AML reviews follow a defined program which cover retrospective review of Transfer Agency Operations through review of Share Registers, Investor Dealing and Investor AML. The Corporate Secretary reviews are completed frequently and ensure all client board meetings are convened, recorded and documentation held in accordance with the funds constitutional documentation and local laws and regulation. Attendance at operational oversight calls / meetings to discuss business activities and any service level concerns. The Oversight Officer is a key representative at the local risk and control committee and prepares reports for other committees within the local governance framework, including the JPMorgan boards. The role also involves review and maintenance of policies, procedures and service level agreements as well as on-site due diligence reviews of our operational centres. 

Qualifications/Skills/Required Experience 
The suitable candidate will be organised with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, will have the ability to lead meetings and work on their own initiative. 

Core Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience of Fund Accounting/Administration, Transfer Agency is preferred.
  • Ability to interact efficiently and effectively at all levels.
  • Practical knowledge of the Jersey regulatory environment preferred.
  • ICSA Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration, ACCA, ACA or workingtowards a relevant qualification.
  • Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Good report writing and technical skills, with attention to detail.
