Key Responsibilities

  • To act as Deputy to the Airport Operations Director
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance aviation operations, aligned to the Ports of Jersey Strategic Business Plan.
  • Optimise resource allocation and cost efficiency across the operations and utilising technology, infrastructure, and digital efficiencies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to operational teams.
  • Have oversight of the management and coordination of day-to-day operations, specifically Terminal Operations, Airside Operations and Aerodrome.
  • Monitor and optimise ground services, airside activities, and terminal operations and delivering continuous review and improvement.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless integration of operational processes.
  • Collaborate with airlines, ground service providers, and other stakeholders to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, vendors, the community, and industry stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of aviation regulations and ensure the airport's adherence to local and international standards.
  • Work closely with regulatory bodies to address compliance issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are in place and consistently followed throughout the airport.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Address and resolve issues raised by stakeholders and act as the primary point of contact for escalating operational issue, providing timely resolutions.
  • Oversee budgetary responsibilities and controlling costs whilst maintaining operational excellence.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or service quality.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance airport operations.
  • Ensure effective use of systems for monitoring and managing various operational aspects.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or similar a related field.  And/or equivalent proven experience
  • Post graduate qualifications and/or CMI level 7. 
  • This is a strategic role and proven leadership experience is required, ideally in an operations type environment.
  • Understanding and experience of working within regulations/ compliance environment and/or safety protocols. 
  • Experience of working in an operations environment.
  • Strong leadership and strategic vision setting.
  • Experience of developing a positive cultural.
  • Leader of change and transformation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of building strong working relationships.

  • 5% employer contribution rate on basic salary plus shift
  • Employees can make voluntary contributions and ports will match 1% for 1% up to an employer maximum matched contribution of 5% e.g. Employee opts to contribute 5% Ports will match this and the total employer contributions would become 10%
  • You are eligible to join the pension scheme the month after successful completion of your probation
  • Minimum joining age – 18 
  • You are not able to join the pension scheme once you reach Government of Jersey state retirement age
  • Cash sum payable to nominated beneficiary if the member dies in service
