TMF Group is a leading provider of critical administrative services, helping clients invest and operate safely around the world. We provide legal, financial and employee administration through TMF Groups teams in 120 offices.

Job purpose

This is a 12 month contract position for a HR Manager.  The aim is to work as part of team to deliver day to day HR support to circa 270 employees in Jersey and Guernsey.   The job holder will support the trust and fund businesses and as a regulated FSB and TCB, much of our work is underpinned by the local regulatory framework on each Island and the HR team liaise closely with Risk & Compliance to ensure our HR policies and procedures are fit for purpose and promote a Think Risk culture. 

The role has a matrix reporting line and the individual will be expected to assist the HR Dircetor to implement and deliver Group HR projects in the local market.  The job holder will also be required to work closely with colleagues in specialist Centres of Expertise to draw on resources and knowledge in Talent Acquisition, Reward, Business Academy and HRIS.

Key Responsibilities

The HR Manager will support the delivery of the people agenda and priorities of the organisation.  This is a generalist role which involves all elements of the HR life cycle from induction through to exit for employees in Jersey and Guernsey.

 

The primary focus of the role will be:

  • Partnering with the key business leaders and managers to drive the people agenda
  • Play an active role in the Senior Management Teams
  • Responding to HR queries in line with local legislation, HR best practice and TMF Channel Islands policies and procedures
  • Supporting managers in handling disciplinary, grievances, capability procedures, performance improvement plans and absence management
  • Taking ownership of certain Group HR projects to lead on the implementation and delivery in market
  • Delivering HR training with a focus on soft skill and local HR policies and procedures
  • Collating, and interpreting statistics and drawing logical and evidenced backed conclusions, together with a proposed action plan (where appropriate) to provide insight to the management team
  • Assisting with and taking responsibility for running payroll (to cover absence) to ensure all employees are paid on time

Professional Experience and Qualifications

Key Business Expertise:

  • A confident communicator and experienced in managing multiple stakeholders with completing deadlines and priorities
  • Experience working in a complex international business with matrix reporting lines
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment within the Channel Islands with the ability to spot potential risk and to speak up and escalate in appropriate circumstances
  • Experience working with senior leadership to deliver on their goals and objectives with a key focus on offering solutions and providing insight as a trusted and valued HR Manager

 

Candidate Profile:

  • A relevant human resource or business degree preferred but not essential where relevant experience has been obtained
  • It is anticipated the job holder will have circa five years experience working in a generalist HR role, ideally in financial services
  • CIPD level 5 qualified or working towards CIPD qualification
  • A good understanding of local employment legislation in Jersey and Guernsey and an up to date knowledge of HR best practice
