We are seeking a highly skilled Multiskilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Mechanical Fitter team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, with expertise in maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment. This role requires versatility, with responsibility for diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues across a range of equipment types.
This is a core hours role, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 16:00pm. We also offer the opportunity to join the mechanical standby and call out roster.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose and repair faults on equipment owned, or operated, by PoJ in line with PoJ priorities.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance on equipment owned, or operated, by PoJ to minimise disruption through random failures.
When required and trained to do so, operate process plant in a safe and competent manner within set parameters as per manufacturer’s specifications and/or statutory requirement.
As a multi-skilled technician, when required utilise appropriate secondary skills in addition to core trade skills in order to carry out duties in the most cost efficient yet competent manner.
Assist in the design, manufacture or modification of simple components, not subject to statutory design criteria, nor affecting the safe use/operation of any related equipment.
Ensure that all PoJ Health, Safety and security rules, plus safe systems of work are strictly observed to maintain the wellbeing of themselves, co-workers and the general public.
Propose strategies for achieving optimal performance of equipment and potential for energy saving.
Maintain documentation relating to equipment maintenance and repair in the form of drawings, technical reports and maintenance records.
Report back on work done, materials used, time taken, further work required and asset condition using the asset management system for both reactive and planned maintenance work.
Provide technical advice, guidance and support to PoJ management, and business partners, on electrical engineering issues relating to the department’s work.
Maintain a knowledge of current trends in mechanical and aligned technologies to ensure relevant developments are considered when carrying out duties.
