Full Description

The Project Manager will work with the business to define activities and projects required for a work-stream area. Supporting the establishment of wider programmes of work across Ports of Jersey, the role requires the individual to manage projects from inception through to the delivery and realisation of anticipated benefits. Project Managers ensure Ports of Jersey key governance and processes are adhered to and maintained throughout the lifecycle of projects.

Key responsibilities:
- Managing, planning and defining projects to support the delivery of strategic objectives and organisational goals
- Managing to agreed budgets, monitoring expenditure and costs in line with forecasts and Ports of Jersey financial processes
- To ensure successful delivery of projects as agreed, including identifying risks and resolving issues
- Monitoring and reporting of progress, including developing and maintaining key strategic project documents, and progress reporting to the Executive
- Establishing and managing project teams/boards, including  project delivery teams as required
- To facilitate the appointment of individuals, contractors and key stakeholders to the project teams ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and skills
- Managing communications through engagement of stakeholders throughout the life of projects – through production of updates, management meetings and staff workshops, ensure projects are well communicated, managed and inclusive to all
- Ensuring effective coordination of projects and their interdependencies, including managing third party contributions to programmes (e.g. contractors)
 
Key personal qualities:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent
- Experience within a project management role
- Ideally hold or be working towards a project management qualification
- Proven track record of managing budgets, delivering projects to time, cost and quality metrics
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
- An ability to act decisively, calmly and positively when under pressure
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Planning and organisational skills
- Adaptable and flexible
- Self motivated
- Ability to think outside the box, be innovative and creative
